VeriStitch to Introduce Embroidery Kiosk Solution

Just a few years ago, embroidery kiosks were popping up all over the place in high-traffic retail establishments: Office Depot, Wal-Mart, you name it. Most of these attempts to commoditize on-site embroidery met with disappointing results. Why? And how will Delta Remote Personalization System (Delta RPS) improve the odds of making a success of what is basically a great idea?

When you think about it, an embroidery kiosk in a retail store is not much different from any other startup embroidery business. On the upside, you have a great location with lots of retail traffic, and you get the benefit of the trust that shoppers already have in the name of the store in which you’re located. But there’s just as much down side as any other embroidery startup, and that certainly includes the steep learning curve involved in digitizing embroidery designs and lettering. Industry experts will tell you that it takes years to master the ability to create designs that both look good and sew efficiently and without error, even with the best digitizing software on the market today. Add to that obstacle all of the other elements of starting an embroidery business, and you can see why some of the first attempts to commoditize on-site embroidery failed.

What if there were a way to take the digitizing step out of the kiosk embroidery business model altogether? Imagine an embroidery kiosk where all the operator had to do was learn to manage the machine and the merchandise. That’s exactly the business model that Delta RPS brings to the embroidery kiosk idea, thus eliminating what is probably the biggest obstacle to success in a startup embroidery business.

The Delta RPS model is based on:

  • Automation of sewn lettering and combined embroidery/lettering designs at a centralized Delta RPS server, thereby eliminating the digitizing step at the kiosk
  • Hosting of a centralized database on the server containing templates to create consistent sewing jobs for all connected retail locations
  • Windows® PC-based client program that provides the kiosk operator with a simple interface to Delta RPS and the local embroidery machine

In this simplified model, here are the basic steps the kiosk operator takes to produce great looking, consistent personalization:

  1. Enters a merchandise code, either by scanning a bar code or manually
  2. Selects a style from the styles associated with the merchandise code
  3. Enters the customer’s requested personalization
  4. Submits the job to Delta RPS
  5. Previews the job created by Delta RPS
  6. Downloads the job to the embroidery machine

Delta RPS is in its final stages of development testing with an initial roll-out expected sometime in Q2. If you’re looking for a smart way to make embroidery kiosks work in your retail stores, please contact our sales agent to find out more about Delta RPS.
