DeltaPC on a Ruggedized Tablet PC: One Sweet Production Floor Solution

You may already know that we here at VeriStitch are hardware geeks at heart. Nothing gets us to drooling like a really sweet hardware implementation, especially when you can run DeltaPC on it. What’s got us drooling at the moment is the Data Limited 8300 Ruggedized Tablet PC, pictured here running, What else?, DeltaPC. The nice folks at Data Limited sent us engineering samples as they were developing this product and now, with the final production version in hand, we are quite impressed with it. It’s a fully self-contained computing/communications platform that has an amazingly small footprint, is built like a tank and can run DeltaPC servicing a four- or six-machine work pod without even breaking a sweat. (The photo shows four machines configured on DeltaPC, each with a different design staged for downloading to a machine.)

Network connectivity is your choice using industry standard fast Ethernet for a wired solution, or 802.11x standards-based wireless. The built-in touchscreen really makes DeltaPC a dream to operate—no keyboard or mouse on the production floor! Another great feature of the 8300 is the swivel mounting bracket that makes it easy to mount just about anywhere and to secure it in a wide range of viewing positions. The price-point on this beauty is amazingly low, especially once you start connecting multiple machines to it and dividing its cost over the total machine count of a work pod.
