Direct-to-Sew for Embroidery Fonts Celebrates Successful First PeakIn our newsletter article of July, 2006, Direct-to-Sew for Embroidery Fonts was just starting to come together. Since then, it has been deployed at the premier specialty retailer of home furnishings in the U.S. hosting a busy network of over 80 machines through a successful peak 2006 retail season. The system hosts templates that use over 70 different satin-stitch fonts, reliably and consistently providing sewn personalization for thousands of merchandise SKUs. Using the satin-stitch engine allows us to do things as we are building sewing jobs that are not possible using monogram fonts. For example, one of the interesting features of Direct-to-Sew for Embroidery Fonts is called auto-fit, which can be enabled in an embroidery template. Associating a hoop or clamp from the hoop list with a template provides the maximum sewing field for the template. Also specified in the template is the maximum horizontal and vertical scaling allowed for auto-fit to apply as needed to make the final lettering fit in the sewing field. After the satin-stitch engine builds the lettering job to the letter height specified in the template, auto-fits checks to see if the lettering fits in the sewing field specified by the associated hoop or clamp. If it doesn’t, as it may not on long names for example, auto-fit applies horizontal or vertical scaling, up to the maximum specified in the template, to make the lettering fit. If the maximum scaling specified in the template is not enough to make the lettering fit, the job is marked as an exception for manual processing by the Delta system administrator. If you are currently using Direct-to-Sew for Monogram Fonts and like the idea of expanding your operation to use satin-stitch fonts, or if you are thinking about automating your manual lettering process, please contact our sales agent to find out how Direct-to-Sew can automate your toughest personalization work. |
